Yep, according to Reddit, which apparently has a snap of an upcoming in-store display, GameStop is pulling up the drawbridge on PS2 trade-ins next month, including systems, games and accessories. On top of that, they've also told me I can have their Super NES and the games! And while they mainly stuck to Mario All-Stars, they had Zelda 3 and Secret of Mana, and Mario Kart. My cousins have offered to ship it to me, and I've offered to pay their costs and then some, but they've never followed through. They might have played it once, but it went, in the box I shipped it in, in the closet, where it's sat ever since. I sent them a ton of great games with it. (Not that I blame them, it's a f'ing Super NES.) Anyway, when I got my PS2, I thought I'd be a bro and send them my PS1.

My favorite cousins were somehow spoiled on outdated stuff, my uncle had money but wasn't spendy, and his girls were happy playing Super NES on a small-ish CRT TV in the family room. Technically I have access to my old PS1, I just have to get it. I don't see any other valid conclusion here. If you're a Sony customer, they probably hate you. (Not gaming related but pretty fucked up.) And look how they blocked multiplayer with Xbox and PC. Look at how they nerf their phones in the US, and then on top of that block them from using the best network.
Look what they did for Fallout 4 modding on PS4. I'd love to see it, but Sony's been on an anti-consumer streak lately. These are 40+ hour games, so they could justify having only one, and some PS1 fans would put all three in their top 10. Which one? Likely 7, but either of the other two would be just as good.
Also if you look at what Nintendo did with Square (Secret of Mana over Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 over 2, rather than all four), you know Sony would pick just one Final Fantasy. On top of that, the best games weren't first party, and opinions vary wildly, so everyone's essential PS1 collection is going to vary just as wildly. NES games capped out at like 128 or 256k and Super NES games capped out at 4 or 8MB, and PlayStation games were capped at 700MB per disc, and some had two or more discs.
